金獎影帝麥克道格拉斯（Michael Douglas）接受英國《衞報》（The Guardian）訪問時驚語，3年前患上喉癌的原因，並非來自飲酒或吸菸，而是因為口交。

當時麥克道格拉斯被問到是否後悔多年菸酒不忌，因此罹患喉癌，他回答不後悔，隨後解釋「我罹患的這種癌症是來自HPV，即人類乳突病毒（Human Papillomavirus，簡稱HPV），實際是來自陰道口交。」麥克道格拉斯並認為，口交也是最好的治療方式。

倫敦頭頸外科諮詢師庫瑪（Mahesh Kumar）則不完全認同麥克的說法，直言也許有些人認為暴露這類病毒愈多，免疫力愈高，但這種說法毫無根據。
