根據德國媒體《Auto Motor uns Sport》表示，新車除了搭載尺碼更大的前驅底盤，動力也將使用效率更好的1.5升3缸引擎，並導入8速手自排變速箱，而從最新的內裝間諜照可看出，MINI似乎取消被部分車主反應其實辨識度不太好的「中置碗公型時速錶」，空調介面也比以往更精緻，至於新車亮相時間，一般認為將會在今年底，而正式量產交車，則要等到明年第1季。
